Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using PDF Summarizer. They govern your access to and use of our platform and API.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PDF Summarizer ("Service," "Platform," or "API"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, API consumers, and any other party who accesses or uses the Service in any manner.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

Service Description

PDF Summarizer provides an AI-powered PDF summarization web app and API that enables users to:

  • Upload PDF documents (typed or scanned) for automated text extraction and AI summarization, via the web app or a REST API.
  • Choose output length, style, format, and output language for each request.
  • Extract key terms and concepts from the document.
  • Receive real-time streaming output via Server-Sent Events.
  • Access usage analytics and request history through the dashboard.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

Account Registration

To access the API, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete registration information.
  • Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your API keys and password.
  • All activity that occurs under your account or with your API keys.
  • Promptly notifying us of any unauthorized use of your account.

You may not share your API keys with unauthorized third parties, or use a single API key across multiple products or organizations without a Business plan.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
  • Generate, process, or disseminate harmful, illegal, defamatory, or discriminatory content.
  • Process content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or circumvent the API's security measures.
  • Use automated means to create multiple accounts or circumvent rate limits.
  • Resell API access without our explicit written permission.
  • Use the Service for training AI models without a separate written agreement.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions without notice or refund.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including all software, algorithms, documentation, and visual design, is owned by PDF Summarizer and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your content: You retain full ownership of the PDF documents you upload and the text they contain. By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely for the purpose of generating your requested summary.

Generated summaries: Summaries generated by the API are provided to you for your use. You are responsible for verifying their accuracy before relying on them.

You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without explicit written permission.

Payment Terms

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. Prices are displayed in Euros (€) and include applicable VAT where required by law.

  • Free plan: 100 API requests per calendar month, no payment required.
  • Professional plan (€4.99/mo): 5,000 API requests per month, billed monthly.
  • Business plan (€19/mo): Unlimited API requests, billed monthly.

Usage limits reset on the 1st of each calendar month. Unused requests do not carry over to the following month. Exceeding your monthly limit will result in HTTP 429 errors until the next reset or an upgrade.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store payment card information on our servers. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: We offer a 7-day refund policy for first-time paid subscriptions. Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the initial payment via our contact form.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDF Summarizer and its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service.
  • Inaccuracies or errors in generated summaries.
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your account.
  • Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon termination, your access to the API will be immediately revoked and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that the summaries generated will be accurate or suitable for any particular purpose.

AI-generated summaries should be reviewed before use in any context requiring accuracy, legal compliance, or factual precision. You are solely responsible for how you use the output of the API.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
